The successful candidate will be an experienced generalist with significant recruitment experience. They will also support the creation and implementation HR programs, including onboarding and internal career development. WestUrban has a small HR team. We are excited to be building a full range of HR programs, aimed at strengthening our workplace culture as we continue to grow. This position reports to the Manager, Human Resources.

Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with the Human Resources Manager to support the research, creation and implementation of HR programs and to support policy and procedure updates;
  • Oversee talent acquisition by managing job postings and supporting construction and office leaders, with the attraction, active search, interview and selection of employees;
  • Support new hires and managers during onboarding, working to strengthen the way we deliver the onboarding process. This includes preparing employment agreements, following up for the timely receipt of documentation, coordinating requirements prior to arrival and planning for new hire orientation;
  • Respond to employee and manager questions about HR programs and procedures; and provide managers with guidance in handling employee relations issues;
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 8 years experience as a Human Resources generalist, with expertise in Talent Acquisition, Performance Management, Workforce Planning, Talent Management and Compensation;
  • Experienced in full-cycle recruitment and candidate search with the ability to bring creative solutions to advance our approach to talent acquisition;
  • Solid understanding of Employment Standards, Human Rights and other Human Resources related legislation;
  • Strong computer skills including intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint;
  • A self-motivated professional with a high level of initiative, a sense of urgency, and the proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment;
  • Proven ability to handle highly confidential information with discretion and tact;
  • Collaborative team player willing to do what it takes to get the job done well and who enjoys a challenge;
  • Excellent time management skills with the proven ability to follow through and meet deadlines;
  • Excellent attention to detail with a high level of accuracy;

Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of accounting and financial reporting for a growing real estate development company and its related businesses, including oversight of billing, cash management, accounts payable and payroll;
  • Coordinate preparation of all monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements;
  • Monitor daily cash position and weekly forecasts;
  • Establish, monitor and develop accounting policies in support of sound financial practices and internal controls;
  • Assist with the development and achievement of financial benchmarks, metrics and other KPIs in line with the strategic growth plan of the business;
  • Assist with the development of financial analysis and management reporting to support management decision making;
  • Ensure all CRA related documentation is submitted correctly and in a timely manner;
  • Coach and mentor staff members in order to grow the expertise of the overall accounting team;
  • Act as a change agent, evaluating the current processes and procedures of the accounting team, developing process efficiency improvements and implementing these improvements across the organization as necessary;
  • Liaise with external accountants/auditors.

Qualifications:

  • CPA designation - mandatory;
  • Thorough knowledge of ASPE and/or IFRS;
  • Exceptional cost accounting and financial analysis capabilities;
  • Experience preparing, reviewing, or auditing financial statements;
  • Advanced computer skills including MS Office and Excel;
  • Ability to make decisions and meet critical deadlines, providing guidance at all levels of the company;
  • Ability to adapt and demonstrate resiliency in response to a demanding and fast-paced work environment;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work well in a team environment;

Siding Installer – Comox Valley

We are currently accepting applications for Siding Installers to work across our various sites on Vancouver Island. The ideal candidate is a hard worker who is capable working with minimal oversight, safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities:

  • Complete exterior finishing including installing panel and lap siding, soffits, flashing, rain screen and peel n stick;
  • Perform a range of construction related tasks as assigned;
  • Assist in various construction labour activities maintaining quality control;
  • Assist with construction site clean-up;
  • Assist subtrades when needed and as required.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working in construction, with various hand and power tools is required;
  • Previous carpentry and siding installation experience is required;
  • Previous experience installing Hardie Panel and plank is an asset;
  • Ability to work comfortably and safely from heights is required;
  • First Aid, Aerial Platform and Fall Arrest training are assets;
  • Takes safety seriously and is mindful of surroundings;
  • A positive attitude and ability to work well with others in a team environment;
  • Desire to search out opportunities to learn new things;
  • Considers quality and accomplishes tasks with an eye on the finished product;
  • Willingness to work overtime and weekends as required.
